Spring has Sprouted!

Spring has sprouted and so have my radishes! Yes I know there are only four, but I prepared the soil, planted the seeds, carefully watered them, watched them sprout and finally produce. There are more almost ready to pick, but I'm waiting for Jeff to return from Miami so he can be part of the harvesting. Or at least watch me harvest. Harvest makes it sound like there's a lot of them. :)

This makes me incredibly happy.

oooh just found this video on sprouting radish seeds. check it

Teach your veggies.

Here's a powerful quote from the speech.

"The adults of the last four generations have blessed our children with the destiny of a shorter lifespan than their own parents. Your child will live a life ten years younger than you, because of the landscape of food we've built around them."

- Jaime Oliver, the Naked Chef, TED Prize wish speech

Baby gifts for big boys?

So my nephew (he's my best friend's baby, so I get to claim him. so there.) is turning one this Saturday. I can't believe it! Of course I need the perfect gift. I've done pretty good so far. He loves the texture of blanket I made him. He also loves the soft chiming elephant I gave him, I loved it too.
While shooting for Pregnancy & Newborn magazine this month. This toy landed on my set.
I loved it! A mini veggie garden, it crinkles, rattles and it's vegetables. I wanted it for him and myself.

When I looked it up online, it said 6+ months. I had second thoughts. He's going to be 1 year old, after all. He needs toys that challenge him.

He loves books and loves when you read to him. I want to encourage his love of reading, just like my mom did for me. So I headed to the adorable Little Shop of Stories in Decatur and picked out 3 board books. If you haven't been to LSS, go! They were very helpful and even gift wrapped the books for me.

In a year or two, I'm getting him this.

fur balls & dust bunnies

It's that time of year again. When my fur balls produce many dust bunnies, especially the shepherd. Bitch. Seriously this could be a part time job.

Beagles or Bagels?

Beagles or Bagels? I'll take Beagles. You can't find any good bagels in Atlanta, according to my husband Jeff. You can find plenty of good Beagles at Atlanta Beagle Rescue.
Today I had the pleasure of transporting Scout & Bobby to adoption day at The Pet Set. They both did great in the car. Learn more about these pups at http://www.atlantabeaglerescue.org

Pictured is Scout waiting to head out to adoption day. Good boy Scout!

Wishing for rain...

Ok not really. We've had enough rain here in Georgia to prompt some people to start building an ark. But this Burberry trench coat will make you wish for rain. Oh so chic with great details. Pop the collar or not it's your choice. See more about trench coats in this month's Atlanta Magazine

a little ketchup

Catching up from January.
So in January I got the chance to work with Ellen from Kate Hunter's Kitchen and Emory Healthcare. The folks from Emory Healthcare wanted to do some food shots to go along with the recipes on their website. It was important that we stayed true to the recipe and that the food actually tasted good. We had a lot of fun and got to snack on some tasty treats.
Below is the Blueberry Wake Up Shake.

Recipe:

Wake-Up Shake

1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1/2 cup ice cubes
2 tablespoons slivered almonds
1 tablespoon honey
1 (6-ounce) container vanilla low-fat yogurt
1 small banana
2 tablespoons low-fat granola without raisins

Combine blueberries and next 5 ingredients in a blender; process until smooth. Divide evenly between 2 glasses; top each serving with 1 tablespoon granola. Serve immediately. Yield: 2 servings (serving size: 1 cup).
269 calories and 5.3 grams fat per serving

Enjoy!

TerraCotta Properties

I had just finished a bedding shoot where the client told me to think Hollywood Regency when looking for props for her shoot. I did a pretty good job too. Then I walked in to this house and wished I could have shopped this house for props! Seriously! That lamp, ottoman, chair! I can't get enough of it. The best part is next they do the dining room, so I'll be back to drink it all in.
